SMB’s business strategy is based on its unique model of bringing together a diversity of products and services, multiple distribution channels, and an extensive regional footprint that spans across the four business divisions. The Group is able to effectively harness its resources to better serve its customers by offering complementary solutions from its business divisions. This strategy allows SMB to be the preferred single source for its customers, providing a complete spectrum of products and solutions to serve projects of different sizes.

The Group’s origins date back to 1973 when the Group’s founders started Mac Electric (S) Pte Ltd (“Mac”), which specialised in the manufacture of low voltage (“LV”) switchgear. Subsequently, SMB United Industry Pte Ltd was incorporated on 7 September 1995 by merging the former with three other companies – Soundtex Switchgear & Engineering Pte Ltd (“Soundtex”), Bridex Singapore Pte Ltd (“Bridex”) and Heer Singapore Pte Ltd. The name was eventually changed to SMB United Limited on 19 July 1996 after conversion into a public limited company. The Group was successfully listed on the Mainboard of the SGX-ST on 23 September 1996.

The swirl in the logo is a graphical representation of the letters S, M and B – which represents Soundtex, Mac and Bridex. They symbolise an all encompassing and comprehensive business which is growing towards globalisation.
